2023 Winter Softball Catching Clinic (Grades 3-8)

Four-week program of catching instruction for new and experienced youth softball catchers These clinics will cover fundamental catching skills of receiving, blocking, framing and throwing. Participants should bring their own equipment if they have it, otherwise, we will have extras. Bring a water bottle and wear sneakers (not cleats). Well-fitting face masks are required.  Clinic is limited to 10 participants.

Spring 2023 - Senior League (7th - 9th grade)

SENIOR LEAGUE

The Senior league for 7th, 8th & 9th grade girls brings it all together with a faster paced ASA-game that includes more specific rules (e.g. dropped third strike, infield fly), yet allows girls of all skill levels a fun and relaxed environment to participate. This league requires some travel for games against out of town opponents and meets in the evenings to allow girls to participate in Curtis middle school softball and/or other sports. Age eligible 9th graders may participate in the spring league depending on whether we participate in a U14 or U15 league this season.


Days: Mondays and Wednesday evengings; additional practice days to be scheduled by coaches.
Dates: April-June (practices may begin before April break)

Spring 2023 - Intermediate League (5th & 6th grade)

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE:

The Intermediate League, for girls in 5th and 6th grade, focuses on the continued development and refinement of all skills of the game (fielding, catching, throwing, hitting, pitching and catching), situational game thinking, teamwork and sportsmanship.  Areas of focus will also include more advanced base running and sliding and all games are player pitched.  Games are played twice a week, with one night of practice. The early spring season will focus on skills development, moving into a schedule of increasingly competitive, fun games.  Depending on in-town enrollment, we may play against nearby towns.

Time: 1-2 weekday evenings 5:45-7:30pm; Saturday & Sunday times TBD

Spring 2023 - Junior League (3rd & 4th grade)

JUNIOR LEAGUE:

The Junior League is for girls in 3rd and 4th grade. The focus continues on fundamental skill building (fielding, catching, throwing, hitting), teamwork and sportsmanship, along with the introduction of pitching and catching skills and situational game thinking. The early spring season will focus on skills development, moving into a schedule of increasingly competitive, fun games (combo of player and coach pitch) and an exciting season ending league tournament.

Days: Tuesday (practice), Fridays (game), Sundays (game)
Time: Tuesday 5:45-7:00 pm; Friday 6:15 pm & Sunday time TBD
Dates: April 25 - June 11

Spring 2023 - Minor League (1st & 2nd grade)

MINOR LEAGUE:

The minor league is open to 1st and 2nd graders and focuses on the following elements:

 

  • Fundamental skill building (hitting, fielding, catching, throwing, base running)

  • Introducing game play (coaches pitch/hit off a tee);

  • Positive reinforcement of early skill development (e.g. no strikeouts - hit off a tee after 3 strikes in a game); Learning/experiencing all positions (no catchers at this level);

  • Teamwork, sportsmanship and enjoying the introduction to the game


Days: Mondays (practices) and Saturdays (games)
Time: Mondays 5:45-6:45 pm; Saturday am excluding Memorial Day

Spring 2023 - Kindergarten Clinic

KINDERGARTEN CLINIC:

The purpose of the Kindergarten Clinic is to teach the fundamentals of softball. The clinic consists of learning how to throw, catch, bat and base run. There will be fun activities/drills to help teach the rules of the game.  Family members are encouraged to participate and help their daughter with throwing, catching, etc.

Day: Sunday mornings, excluding Memorial Day weekend
